Family and friends have been thrown into deep mourning after a young Nigerian woman, Mirian Chinonso Sunday, sadly passed away just two days before her traditional wedding ceremony.
According to reports, Mirian died on Friday, October 3, in Umuahia, Abia State. Her traditional wedding was planned for Sunday, October 5, but the joyful occasion was cut short by tragedy.
Her fiancé, Ugochukwu Princewill, popularly known as Donish Gold, had only recently shared their pre-wedding photos on October 2, expressing his happiness and love for her.
“Sunday we party. 5th October. Thank you so much for choosing me, my baby girl… love is a beautiful thing,” he wrote.
Sadly, that dream celebration never came to be.
Reports say Mirian suddenly complained of chest pain while on her way to the market and was rushed to FMC Umuahia, where doctors battled to save her life. Despite all medical efforts, she could not be revived.
A friend of the groom, Christian Ojike Agbaeze, shared an emotional tribute:
“A day meant for celebration has turned into condolences. This was not the plan. My brother Donish Gold, take heart. We were supposed to pay her bride price on Friday and celebrate on Sunday, but she passed away that same Friday. Saddest month ever. Why, God?”
Another close friend also expressed her shock and sorrow on Facebook:
“My sister, as we fondly called each other, you left everyone heartbroken. You were healthy and excited about your traditional wedding that was supposed to hold tomorrow. I wish this was just a bad dream. Rest in peace, Mirian Sunday. Until we meet again, happy soul.”
The MC who was hired to host the wedding also confirmed the heartbreaking news:
“Still in shock. She contacted me months ago, full of excitement as we planned her big day. I was ready to celebrate love and laughter with her, but now, she’s gone. How do you process something like this? From wedding plans to tears overnight life is truly fragile. Rest in peace, Mirian.”
The heartbreaking story of Mirian’s sudden passing has continued to draw sympathy and prayers from people across social media.
